STEM @ Clerkhill School

STEM (SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING & MATHS) AT CLERKHILL SCHOOL

Clerkhill School runs a highly successful after school science club led by Mrs Pressley and supported by Miss Moir and Miss Ashton. The Science Club takes place on a Tuesday after school and is open to Primary 7 pupils.

Last session, our science club won the National Science Club of the Year (YESC/SCDI), competing against 50 schools at the Glasgow Science Centre, on the 31st May 2019.

This year’s focus is VEX IQ Robotics, as well as space themed challenges.

Last session  saw the start of a Junior Science Club for our P3 pupils. This was led by Miss Ashton, Miss Moir and Mrs Pressley. Some of our P7 Scientists also worked alongside our P3 pupils and supported them in their Science Learning.

Currently our P6 pupils are involved in First Lego League in association with JBS Fabrication Ltd. Their challenge is to build and programme a Lego Robot and a team of 10 pupils will represent our school at the First Lego League Competition at NESCOL on December 14th 2019. Mrs Stephens leads this very exciting new endeavour!
